Ho Shing Home for the Elderly
Ho Shing Home for the Elderly has been providing services since November 1990. The home occupies an area of about 2,040 square meters and is sponsored by the government and Sik Sik Yuen. It provides 90 long-term care places.
Nature of Service
Meal services
Nutrimental meals are customized with the professional advice of registered dietitian. Three meals a day plus snack, and afternoon tea are provided. Special Diets are provided for residents who need special care, such as soft meals, pureed meals, low-sodium meals, low-purine meals.
Nursing and medical services
Nurses provide professional care to the residents. Nursing care and health guidance, including administration and supervision of medication, Regular health checking, health counseling are provided. Registered medical practitioner visit regularly, and there are also outreach service provided by geriatric doctors and psychiatric doctors. Occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, and dietitians regularly conduct professional assessments and design rehabilitation treatment plans for residents regularly. Site-Visit of pharmacists to supervise residents’ medication and treatment monitoring are arranged.
Group activities
A variety of social and recreational activities are arranged to residents, such as festival celebrations with family members, outings, volunteer groups, to enhance the social life and recreation of residents, to encourage residents to explore their interests, and to maintain residents’ social relationship with the community and families. All these sociable activities enable the elders to conduct an enjoyable life with dignity and happiness.
Personal counseling
Professional Social workers help residents solve difficulties encountered in interpersonal, economic, medical, and other aspects of life, as well as help them maintain the relationship with their families.
Escort Services
Transportation services are provided for residents.
Eligibility Criteria
Provide residential care services for elders who are aged 65 or above, in poor health or suffering from functional disabilities that need assistance in personal care and activities of daily living, and lacking of family care and assistance. (Persons aged between 60 and 64 may apply if there is a proven need for residential care based on health and/or social grounds, subject to their meet of certain admission criteria.)

- Applicants can register for referrals at the family service centers, medical social workers of hospitals, and elderly service centers of the Social Welfare Department in each district.
- Applicants must pass the assessment of the Social Welfare Department's Standardized Care Need Assessment Management Office (Elderly Services) before they can apply for admission.
