A peony blessing lamp will be set up in the Taisui Yuenchen Hall this year like usual, for worshippers to claim their enshrinement and pray to the Goddess of the Great Dipper for prosperity, happiness and good luck. The lamp is one of the “five offerings” of Taoism. It is capable of releasing light and represents the divine light. The blessing lamp is made in the shape of a peony to borrow the grace and nobility of the peony. After worshippers complete the registration, they can choose to enshrine the glass peony blessing lamp in the Taisui Yuenchen Hall or take it home for worship. The purification ritual for the peony blessing lamps was completed on the first day of the first month of the Lunar calendar. Amid chanting, the blessing lamps are lit for the worshippers on the first and fifteenth day of each month thereafter. Worshippers can also come to Sik Sik Yuen to light the lamps personally to pray for safety and good fortune.
